Raw, adjective: 7. brutally or grossly frank: a raw portrayal of human passions.
"There’s no such thing as never getting angry. Enlightenment can and does use all the available emotions. Otherwise, we would have to discount Jesus for getting pissed off in the temple and kicking over the table. The idea that enlightenment means sitting around with a beatific smile on our faces is just an illusion."So grateful for diverse Eastern teachings that appreciate the depth and complexity of mindfulness sans the increasingly ubiquitous yoga-world clichés about everything being bliss and shakti ascending and rainbows and fairies and unicorns. Am finding great overlap these days in yoga philosophy and the teachings of Zen Buddhists who not only recognize the emptiness and fluidity of all notions of identity, but who also honor the fact that the suffering in our lives can be our most beloved and transformative teacher.
