Raw, idiom: 14a. in the natural, uncultivated, or unrefined state: nature in the raw.

I was going through some old notebooks the other day and stumbled across this little gem, scrawled in blue ink on the back of a piece of scrap paper.  It's from a benediction written by fiery and fantastic scholar (and my former teacher) Rosemary Radford Ruether.  (She of the badass everything.)  It's very simple.

May beauty be before me
May beauty be behind me
May beauty be below me
May beauty be above me
May beauty be all around me
In beauty it was begun
In beauty it is finished.

And those are lisianthus, right - my newest favorite of late.  Did you know they're native prairie flowers?  No, neither did I.  I've got a great vase on my desk right now.  It changes the room.
