Raw, adjective: 6. ignorant, inexperienced, or untrained: a raw recruit.

I was waiting for this.

Gloria Steinem runs wild on Sarah Palin in this morning's LA Times.  Now that every media outlet is calling Palin's RNC speech last night "electrifying" (yes, that exact adjective is everywhere, take a look), we need some counter-voices out there immediately to call bullshit on some of her contrivedly down-home rhetoric about hockey moms and pit bulls and how she somehow has more experience than Obama because she was a small-town mayor instead of a Senator.  Huh?

Anyway, read Dame Gloria's op-ed.  The tagline says: "Sarah Palin shares nothing but a chromosome with Hillary Clinton. She is Phyllis Schlafly, only younger."  So true!  Take a look at her stances on "God, guns and gays" -- that tells you everything you need to know about why John McCain had to go with her to swing some of those Dobson-ites his way.  Erghh.

Get out of my womb, crazy evangelical.

I can't wait to read it! Right after I comment...

It seems that "electrifying" a crowd is apparently now a good thing because Barack Obama is not the one doing it.

It would be one thing to be upfront about the lack of experience, or focus more on the gubanatorial stuff. But trying to equate being a mayor of a town probably the size of Obama's campaign staff with being a U.S. Senator makes her look like a fool. It is arguments like these (and the geographical proximity to Russia- WTF?) that make me lose all respect for her and those who tout her. They all look ridiculously hypocritical and not to mention stupid.
