(Forgive the excess Salon-love this morning. It's just the usual Monday morning catch-up routine.)
You've no doubt heard about/seen/read the site Stuff White People Like. Someone recommended it to me a few months ago and as satires go, it's up there with the best. Skewers the pretensions of the lefty upper-middle-class bourgeois white city dweller, uh, embarrassingly well.

The whole thing makes me think of the David Brooks book, Bobos in Paradise, that came out right around the time I was finishing up my Soc degree and thinking a lot about things like specialty coffee shops and Birkenstocks and Thorsten Veblen and conspicuous consumption. Not sure how I feel about Brooks himself, but it's a quick read and a thought-provoking one, at that. And the cover art isn't so bad, either.
