My dad taught me, among other things:

how to swing a hammer
how to talk football
how to weed petunias
the rush of road trips
the itch of restlessness
the pleasure of a shared silence
the pleasure of a good sunburn
to make of my life something I love
to change my oil every 3000 miles
that we already have everything we could ever need,
here, now, in this moment; enough.

I saw "Babel" on Sunday. The two Morrocan men in the beginning reminded me of Dad - similar facial structure, weathered lines, bright eyes and beards. Surprised me to see a German in a Morrocan...
